Soul Asylum ar the quintessential footling band that could; it solely took decade eld to plough them from a teen service department band into multi-platinum-selling gospel According to John Rock stars. Guitarist Dan Murphy, bassist Karl Mueller, and drummer Dave Pirner formed in 1981 as Loud Fast Rules in Minneapolis, MN. When the shambolic, no-longer-teenage dance orchestra burst onto the scene in 1984, Soul Asylum had added Grant Young on drums and switched Pirner to speech rhythm guitar and vocals for the loud and flying Twin Tone record album Say What You Will, Clarence...Karl Sold the Truck. However, the record was overshadowed by the stream releases by fellow Twin Cities denizens the Replacements and Hüsker Dü; Soul Asylum get departed on record stating they were dubbed "the B-teamers" by the Replacements, which created bad feelings betwixt the bands for days.

Soundless, Soul Asylum bad their way on college radio and unnumerable U.S. clubhouse tours, which gained them a devoted following. The "hell-on" rock band, in guitar player Murphy's words, released Made to Be Broken and the similar Piece You Were Out in 1986, just Pirner's songwriting always far outshone the shape. The band signed to A&M Records in 1989 as part of a distribution pact between Twin Tone and A&M for the harder rocking Hang Time, produced by Lenny Kaye. The record garnered some college radio aid, just by 1990's And the Horse They Rode in On, Soul Asylum had fallen out of favour with the indie rock mark and were left field languishing in limbo, having well-nigh solely forsaken their post-punk indie roots.

Pirner and Murphy exhausted the clip regrouping, working out songs as the acoustic duet Murphy & Pirfinkle, and touring the Midwest. The songs ground their way to Columbia Records and onto Grave accent Dancers Union in 1992, which in the end earned Soul Asylum a multi-platinum record afterward a dim go. The wizardly third single, "Shoo-in Train," propelled by a public service announcement-style video for missing children, helped push the single to number five and the album to number 11, and turned the band into a menage nominate. They performed at the Clinton Inauguration in 1992. Shortly after the release of Grave Dancers, drummer Young left the band and was replaced by Sterling Campbell for the recording of Let Your Dim Light Shine in 1995. Though it charted at number sestet and a single, "Wretchedness," polish off the Top 20, Soul Asylum never reached the dizzying heights nor masses they fey with "Runaway Train."

Potato also records and tours with the Minneapolis "supergroup" Golden Smog, spell Pirner contributed vocals to their 1996 recording, On Golden Smog. Pirner's well-publicized love affair with actress Winona Ryder beginning in 1994 left skeptics predicting that Soul Asylum would break up, just they returned in 1998 with Confect from a Stranger. Sadly, bassist and innovation appendage Karl Mueller died of esophageal malignant neoplastic disease on June 17, 2005, at the age of 41. The band reunited in 2006 for Silver Lining, their one-ninth full-length recording. Needless to say, the small band's celebrity in the end eclipsed those other guys from Minneapolis.

Piers Morgan - Morgan Rants About Baldwins Conflicting Values

AMERICA'S GOT TALENT judge PIERS MORGAN was not impressed by his CELEBRITY APPRENTICE castmate STEPHEN BALDWIN - claiming the actor is a religious hypocrite.

Morgan took part in property mogul Donald Trump's reality TV show and was crowned the winner ahead of celebrities like country singer Trace Adkins, boxing champ Lennox Lewis, actor Vincent Pastore and The Usual Suspects star Baldwin earlier this year (08).

But Morgan admits he was sick of listening to Baldwin preach about his strong Christian values when he would also regale them with tales of prostitution.

Speaking to U.S. DJ Howard Stern, he says, "Stephen spent half his time talking about religion and the other half talking about sleeping with hookers in Vegas. Make your mind up, mate."

Spears' family fear for her life

Following her unexpected release from a Los Angeles hospital yesterday, the parents of troubled singer Britney Spears have said that they believe her life is at risk.
In a joint statement given to The Associated Press, Jamie and Lynne Spears said they were "extremely disappointed" about their daughter's release from the UCLA Medical Center where she had been undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
The statement said: "As parents of an adult child in the throes of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe."
The statement continued: "We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."
The Los Angeles Times reported that Spears left the UCLA Medical Center quietly with a small security group.
However paparazzi later followed the singer when she left her home.
Spears was tailed by photographers to the Beverly Hills Hotel where police broke up the crowd and escorted the 26-year-old inside.
It was not clear why Spears, who it was reported had been ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation for two weeks, was released from hospital.
A UCLA Medical Center spokesman refused to comment, citing patient confidentiality laws.
